Santa Barbara Magazine Features Blue Parakeet Rugs in Montecito Ranch Tour

Santa Barbara Magazine’s Lorie Dewhirst Porter goes inside an iconic Montecito ranch home styled by the incredible House of Honey and featuring a very special, very large scale Blue Parakeet Rug. The new homeowners sought out House of Honey for their signature eclectic and architectural look, and key to the look of this home was the right “great room” rug. In fact, the oversized 19th Century Persian rug with its strikingly muted palette was the very first piece that went into the house. We drove it up from LA to help roll it out on-location, and the effect was instant magic, like it had always lived there in that room. Its scale helped to balance the imposing architectural features of the space, like the floor to ceiling fireplace, while its demure tones offset the burnt orange sofas and velvet green olive trees visible through the wall of windows.

House of Honey are expert at mixing design and attention to place in a way that creates a sense of permanence and intention, and that’s what building a room around the right antique rug can help anyone do. The end result is so stunning that the homeowners were more than happy to “uproot our lives” to move in, and we can see why!
