Dwell Visits House on a Hill Full of Blue Parakeet Rugs

Dwell recently took readers through a home with a beautiful back story and a number of Blue Parakeet Rugs. The owner, Fredrik Nilsson of @studionilsson, moved to LA to study architecture 20 years ago, fell in love with the place, and never went back to his native Sweden as he had originally planned. After welcoming a baby, he and his partner, TV writer Keshni Kashyap @keshnikashyap, decided to make LA official by buying a home, but the available inventory of pre-flipped LA homes didn’t impress.

Then, a “dilapidated cottage on a tiny lot” in Echo Park with amazing views got their imaginations whirring. They ended up designing and building a jewel box of a home on a hill that’s stylish, welcoming, and a breath of fresh jasmine-scented air according to the neighbors.

Fredrik wanted to make the home a blend of his Swedish and Angeleno identities, and of course vintage Blue Parakeet Rugs helped to bridge those sensibilities in incredible style. We love seeing these rugs complement sophisticated, modern decor to create family-friendly and fun-loving spaces.
